John has considerable experience in authorisations, prudential regulation and consumer credit.
He has extensive knowledge of financial services regulation built over almost 40 years working in the sector, the majority of which were with the Ulster Bank where John held managerial roles in credit risk, financial reporting and controls and corporate affairs.
John’s experience includes advising firms on CASS requirements and regulatory returns including COREP returns, providing analysis of MiFID2, managing the compilation of authorisation applications under payment services, e-money, consumer credit and IFPRU investment firm regulatory regimes.
He is also currently advising UK based firms on Brexit contingency plans and is currently responsible for the delivery of applications to other EU states, including Ireland and the Netherlands.
As the Ulster Bank’s Consumer Credit Compliance Officer, he was responsible for the bank’s compliance with OFT guidance and managing the bank’s licence renewal applications.
John holds MSc in Applied Management, a Prince2 project management qualification and the ICA Diploma in Anti-money Laundering (distinction).
